Part of the Beginner's series:

Quick Answer

  • Days 1–2: Follow the quest chain, join an alliance, keep both build queues running, start Development research.
  • Days 3–4: Push Main Hall, unlock higher troop tiers via Camp upgrades, clear tower defense stages for rewards.
  • Days 5–6: Establish your gathering rhythm, appoint officers deliberately, bank speedups for events.
  • Day 7: Take stock — you want a solid resource economy, an active alliance, and troops you can actually defend with before your first kill event.

Day 1: Foundations

Your first session sets the tone. Work through the quest line without skipping — it hands you resources, speedups, and your first officers while teaching the reclaim-and-rebuild loop.

  • Join an active alliance before you log off. Look for one with recent activity and open rally participation, not just high power. The alliance guide explains what to look for.
  • Never leave a builder idle. Farms, Oil Refineries, and Steel Mills are cheap early — slot them in whenever the Main Hall is waiting on requirements.
  • Use your free officer recruits. Appoint a Director-type officer (Saki or Doc Gray if you pull them) before starting long builds or research — the speed bonus applies when the timer starts.

Day 2: Economy and Research

  • Get the Academy up and start the Development branch — construction speed and healing capacity compound over the whole life of your account. Full order in the research priorities guide.
  • Upgrade your Hospital early. Healing wounded troops is far cheaper than retraining dead ones, and hospital capacity is what keeps zombie farming sustainable.
  • Begin clearing tower defense stages. They cost nothing but time and pay out steadily.

Days 3–4: Military Backbone

  • Push Main Hall whenever requirements allow. It gates everything else.
  • Upgrade Camps to unlock the next troop tier. Higher-tier troops are stronger per march slot — a tier upgrade is usually worth more than raw troop count. See troop types and tiers.
  • Train troops in balanced batches across the melee, mid-range and long-range rows so you can field proper formations later. Ratios are covered in the march formation guide.
  • Hit world-map zombies at the highest level you can beat without wounded overflowing your Hospital.

Days 5–6: Rhythm and Discipline

  • Establish a gathering loop: send full marches to resource tiles before logging off, collect and re-send when you log in. The resource management guide covers tile selection and radar searches.
  • Do your dailies every day: free recruits, alliance help, alliance donations, daily quests, and event check-ins. Consistency beats intensity in this game.
  • Bank your speedups. Events like Strongest Commander reward using speedups during specific phases — spending them blind wastes points. See the events overview.

Day 7: Pre-Combat Checkup

Before your server's first kill event arrives, verify:

  1. Your Hospital capacity covers a meaningful share of your army.
  2. You know how to shield or hide troops — read PvP basics now, not after you've been zeroed.
  3. Your resources are spent, not stockpiled — banked resources above your protected cap are loot for whoever attacks you.
  4. Your alliance has moved you inside its territory cluster if possible; neighbors deter attackers.

The One Rule That Matters

Every timer running, all the time. Build queues, research, training, gathering marches, healing — if something is idle, you're falling behind someone on your server whose queues aren't. The rest of this handbook, starting with the beginner hub, builds on that habit.
